Jennifer and Col graciously opened their home and garden to us and the weather was perfect. There was the usual delicious spread provided by our members with Caryll's homemade rum balls disappearing quickly.
After socializing and sharing stories, we drew raffle tickets to determine the order in which to chose secret Santa presents. Col was kept busy making us lattes and cappuccinos with his super duper espresso machine. Thanks to the Mehargs for hosting a lovely start to the festive season.

I would like to pay homage to all the English teachers I had who said that students should always substitute a better word for “nice”. After all these years, I have decided to rebel!
On Tuesday 27th December, we had a really NICE day at the Minnamurra River. What a NICE location, right where the river meets the sea…….NICE picture postcard scenery! Our NICE earlybird members claimed a NICE, sheltered, grassy spot surrounded by NICE shady trees. Quite a large group eventually assembled and well……. It was just NICE having NICE conversations with NICE people. It was NICELY (ha ha I just love that word right here) relaxing. How NICE it was just to chill out after a NICE Christmas. There were NICE activities to do like sit, chat, walk, canoe, play board games, eat NICE mains/Xmas leftovers and imbibe. Even the dogs were NICE to our members and to each other. The weather was NICE too (not too hot and not too cold) but the river was flowing too quickly for swimmers, although the water temperature was quite NICE.
In short, it was a NICE day with NICE people in a NICE location at a NICE time of year. Thank you to that very NICE couple Jill and Colin for organising this event. We all enjoyed it!

A picnic attended by Frank is never just ordinary and as you can see, Minnamurra was no exception, apart from the fine dining, Frank also set up the gas stove on the long table complete with a whistling kettle to make a fresh cuppa.

The bus will depart at 7-30 am at the Corrimal Library. Please be there in time to board as we would hate for anyone to miss this great value trip.
The "LEFTOVER PICNIC" on Sunday 1st January, Boonerah Point was a very pleasant place to go, not too crowded, plenty of open space, great weather, sunny with a little breeze.
Our group arrived with chairs and tables, we sat under a tree, relaxed and had morning tea. At lunch time, out came the leftovers. Chicken, salad, cold meat and pavlova, just as nice as it had been the night before, New Years Eve at Wongawilli. (That was a roaring success as usual, thanks to Jill & Col)
We stayed a few hours chatting and watching children on their new bikes ride past. A very nice way to spend the first day of 2012<>>
Thanks Marge and Greg.

Some of the club members without local family to share their Christmas day enjoying the company of fellow club members. It felt just like a good family day.

What delightful dining for our I. O. C. Resturant night. The ambience looking out over the lake and mountain views and the cottage setting made eating enjoyable. The food was good and the service great. Quiet, efficient waitressing, hot meals, yummy desserts with not too much expense attached.
The ability to be able to move about the room to chat to all was great as we don’t always get that opportunity elsewhere. The forty or so diners hopefully enjoyed the night out as much as me.
Thankyou Greg
Jill and I went back there on Friday morning with my sister for morning tea. The service, food and location was just as inviting. We can recommend this place for anyone looking for breakfast, lunch or just a coffee and cake. They have a “nothing is a trouble attitude to service.
Thanks Greg for introducing this place to us.

Alex was rushed into hospital early in the New Year after taking a turn. He was scheduled to have a stint inserted late January but the doctor kept him in an performed the operation as soon as possible. He is now home and slowly on the mend.
